Road Tour Bikes

MCTT hire bikes for their road tours from specialist bike hire companies based in Chiang Mai.

The bikes are not new but are well maintained and prepared.

Road bikes

Guests generally opt for the Honda CB 400 There are bigger bikes available e.g. CB750 but our experience has shown them to be too heavy for the twisting mountain roads and very soon riders are trying to swap with a fellow group rider for one of the smaller bikes.

Driving in Thailand

Driving is on the left, Thai driving standards are fairly unpredictable, defensive driving and good anticipation is required.

Acquire and bring with you an International driving lisence, carry it, along with ID.

If stopped by the authorities (not uncommon) failure to provide ID and a driving lisence results in a trip to the police station and a fine.

Kawasaki D Tracker are now available and although they are a 250cc we think them ideal for this trip. We can also use Honda Phantom 200 cc bikes which are lower to the ground.

MCTT tours are pretty relaxed affairs, we try not to spend the whole day on the bikes.

The North of Thailand has many attractions and we make sure you get to visit everything.

Our Road bike Tours generally spend half a day on the bike with a morning or afternoon visit to an attraction such as elephant camp, hot spring, spa, cave systems, day and evening markets, hill tribe homes and villages, long neck village, river boat trip.

Honda super Four 400cc, Suzuki Desperado 400cc, Honda VRX 400cc, Honda Bros 400cc, Honda Phantom 200cc Honda CB750 Kawasaki D Tracker 250cc, Kawasaki KLX 250cc, Honda XR 250cc

The basic rule is - sizes matters - Give way to anything bigger than you.

Drive very defensively and then some more.
